Tuition and studio guidelines

A shared understanding supports consistent lessons.

Clear expectations help protect lesson time and support a calm, consistent learning environment.

01

Monthly Tuition and payment

Monthly Tuition is the regular option for private piano, voice, and accordion lessons.

  • Monthly Tuition uses the current monthly rate listed on the Pricing page for a 30-minute weekly private lesson and applies to all students.
  • Monthly tuition reserves a regular weekly lesson time and is not based on the number of lessons in a particular calendar month. The same published monthly rate applies in months with four or five scheduled lesson dates.
  • Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. A first partial month may be prorated based on the remaining scheduled lessons; regular monthly tuition begins afterward.
  • Monthly Tuition includes weekly private instruction, the reserved weekly time, personalized lesson planning, required beginner method books and selected studio learning materials, practice guidance, and performance or studio-event opportunities when available.
02

Flex 45

Flex 45 is for students whose schedules change and who cannot commit to a fixed weekly time.

  • Flex 45 uses the current package rate listed on the Pricing page for four 45-minute private lessons and does not include a recurring reserved lesson time.
  • Each lesson is scheduled according to studio availability, and the package is valid for three months from the purchase date.
  • With at least 48 hours’ notice, a booked Flex lesson may be rescheduled. With less than 48 hours’ notice or a no-show, that lesson is considered used.
  • Unused Flex lessons are not refundable or transferable.
03

Introductory Lesson

  • A 20-minute Introductory Lesson is available once per new student at the current rate listed on the Pricing page.
  • Its purpose is to meet the teacher, experience the studio, discuss goals, and determine fit. The website form is an inquiry request, not online payment.
04

Monthly cancellations and make-ups

  • With at least 48 hours’ notice, a Monthly Tuition student is eligible for a make-up lesson, subject to teacher availability. No specific date or time is guaranteed.
  • With less than 48 hours’ notice, the lesson remains part of Monthly Tuition and there is no make-up, tuition credit, or refund. Exceptional circumstances may be handled at studio discretion.
  • A no-show is considered a completed lesson and does not qualify for a make-up, refund, or credit.
  • A make-up cannot be converted to cash, a refund, or a credit; it cannot be transferred, and a missed make-up is considered used.
05

Lesson timing and teacher cancellations

  • Lessons begin and end at their scheduled times. Late arrival does not extend the lesson.
  • If the teacher cancels, the studio will offer a make-up lesson or an appropriate tuition credit when a make-up cannot reasonably be arranged. Students will not lose paid instructional time because of a teacher cancellation.
06

Statutory holidays and planned closures

  • The studio is closed on British Columbia statutory holidays and lessons are not scheduled on those dates.
  • Monthly Tuition is not reduced for statutory holidays, and statutory-holiday lessons do not require a make-up.
  • Planned studio closures will be communicated in advance.
07

Family absences and withdrawal

  • Monthly Tuition reserves the student’s regular place. Family vacations and planned absences do not automatically reduce tuition or create a make-up entitlement.
  • For an extended discontinuation, Monthly Tuition students must provide 30 days’ written notice.
  • During the notice period, tuition remains payable and the reserved weekly lesson time remains available.
08

Group classes and courses

  • Group programs use fixed-session pricing, and students register for the whole session.
  • Fixed dates are provided for each session. A missed class cannot be rescheduled, does not receive an individual make-up, and is not refundable or transferable.
  • If the studio cancels a group class, an appropriate replacement arrangement will be provided.
09

Learning materials and performances

  • Required beginner books and selected studio learning materials are included in Monthly Tuition. Additional or specialized books may be recommended for separate purchase.
  • Flex 45 does not include a broad promise that all learning materials will always be provided.
  • Studio recitals or events may be offered. Participation is encouraged but optional unless a specific program explicitly states otherwise.
10

Children and studio property

  • Parents and guardians are responsible for children before and after their scheduled lesson. Students should arrive reasonably close to lesson time and be picked up promptly afterward.
  • Edelweiss does not provide childcare or supervision outside the scheduled lesson time.
  • Students and families are expected to treat studio instruments, equipment, and property with care. Parents or guardians may be responsible for damage caused by intentional or negligent actions.
11

Overdue tuition and continued enrollment

  • Tuition must remain current to maintain a reserved weekly lesson time. The studio may send a reminder when payment becomes overdue.
  • Continued non-payment may result in suspension or cancellation of lessons, and the reserved time may be released.
  • The studio may discontinue enrollment when reasonably necessary because of repeated non-payment, persistent attendance problems, inappropriate or disruptive behaviour, or circumstances that make continued enrollment unsuitable.
