Studio information
Answers for a confident start.
These answers reflect the studio’s current tuition, scheduling, and lesson policies.
01What ages do you teach?
Private piano lessons are offered from age 4 through adult, voice from age 6 through adult, and accordion from age 7 through adult. Group piano is offered for ages 4–18.
02Do I need an instrument at home?
Regular home practice is important. Piano beginners may use a keyboard with at least 61 keys, weighted if possible. Voice students do not need an instrument. Accordion students should have their own accordion.
03What lesson lengths are available?
Monthly Tuition includes a regular 30-minute weekly private lesson. Flex 45 includes four 45-minute private lessons, and the one-time Introductory Lesson is 20 minutes. Group-course schedules are shared with each offered session.
04Where do lessons take place?
Lessons take place at Edelweiss Music & Art Studio, 4306 29th St, Vernon, BC.
05Why is Monthly Tuition the same in four- and five-lesson months?
Monthly Tuition reserves the student’s regular weekly lesson time and is not based on the number of lessons in a particular calendar month. The current monthly rate is listed on the Pricing page and remains the same whether a month contains four or five scheduled lesson dates.
06What is the difference between Monthly Tuition and Flex 45?
Monthly Tuition provides a reserved 30-minute weekly private lesson. Flex 45 provides four 45-minute lessons scheduled individually according to studio availability, without a recurring reserved time. Current prices are listed on the Pricing page. Flex 45 is designed for students who need scheduling flexibility and cannot commit to a recurring weekly lesson time.
07How do cancellations and make-up lessons work?
For Monthly Tuition, at least 48 hours’ notice makes the student eligible for a make-up subject to teacher availability; no particular time is guaranteed. With less than 48 hours’ notice or a no-show, there is no make-up, refund, or credit, although exceptional circumstances may be handled at studio discretion. A missed make-up is considered used.
08How long is a Flex 45 package valid?
A Flex 45 package is valid for three months from its purchase date. With at least 48 hours’ notice, a booked Flex lesson may be rescheduled. With less notice or a no-show, that lesson is considered used. Unused lessons are not refundable or transferable.
09How much should students practise at home?
The current guidance is 5–10 minutes daily for young beginners ages 4–6, 15–20 minutes for elementary students, and 30 minutes or more for intermediate and advanced students. Consistency matters more than duration.
10What happens on British Columbia statutory holidays?
The studio is closed and lessons are not scheduled on British Columbia statutory holidays. Monthly Tuition is not reduced, and statutory-holiday lessons do not require a make-up. Planned studio closures are communicated in advance.
11How do I withdraw from Monthly Tuition?
Provide 30 days’ written notice. Tuition remains payable during the notice period, and the student’s reserved weekly lesson time remains available throughout that period.
12What learning materials are included?
Monthly Tuition includes required beginner method books and selected studio learning materials. Additional or specialized books may be recommended for separate purchase. Flex 45 does not include a broad promise that every learning material will be provided.
13What is the Introductory Lesson?
It is a 20-minute lesson available once per new student at the current rate listed on the Pricing page. It is a chance to meet Iryna, experience the studio, discuss goals, and determine whether the studio is a good fit.
14When is Monthly Tuition due?
Monthly Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. If a student starts partway through a month, the first month may be prorated based on the remaining scheduled lessons; regular monthly tuition begins afterward.
15How do group courses work?
Group courses use fixed-session pricing and students register for the full session. Missed classes cannot be rescheduled and are not refundable or transferable. If the studio cancels a group class, an appropriate replacement arrangement will be provided.
16Are performance opportunities required?
Studio recitals or events may be offered. Participation is encouraged but optional unless a specific program clearly states otherwise.
17What are parents and guardians responsible for?
Parents and guardians are responsible for children before and after the scheduled lesson. Students should arrive reasonably close to lesson time and be picked up promptly afterward; the studio does not provide childcare outside lesson time.
18Do vacations or planned absences reduce Monthly Tuition?
No. Monthly Tuition reserves the student’s regular place, so family vacations and planned absences do not automatically reduce tuition or create a make-up entitlement. The withdrawal policy applies to an extended discontinuation.
19What happens if a student arrives late?
Lessons begin and end at their scheduled times. A late arrival does not extend the lesson.
20What happens if the teacher cancels?
The studio will offer a make-up lesson or an appropriate tuition credit when a make-up cannot reasonably be arranged. A student will not lose paid instructional time because the teacher cancelled.
